A Deeper Call Demands a Deeper Consecration

“Now the Lord said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy
kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee”
(Gen. 12:1). Almighty God called Abram to go on with Him. God promised
to make of Abram a great nation. In order for that to actually be realized,
Abram had to obey the Lord. He had to move on as God instructed him.
Abram had to “get out of thy country” and “from thy kindred”, etc., and go
“unto a land that I will shew thee.”

In God’s way, a deeper call demands a deeper consecration. God spoke to
His servant Joshua saying, “…that ye may know the way by which ye must
go: for ye have not passed this way heretofore. And Joshua said unto the
people, Sanctify yourselves: for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among
you”. Whatever the Lord is calling us to, whatever is next for us in Christ,
will necessitate a deeper, fuller consecration to the Lord from us. The Lord
calls us, makes wonderful promises to us, equips us, but we (as His
redeemed) must believe Him and obey Him. God is surely calling each of
His children to increasingly more in Christ. For us to obtain these greater
blessings, we must be more separated unto the Lord and from the things of
this world. “And I heard another voice from Heaven saying, Come out of
her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not
of her plaques” (Rev. 18:4).

Henry Blackaby writes, “You cannot stay where you are and go with God”.
If any man will truly follow Jesus, he must take up his cross and follow. We,
like Abram, must leave certain things and cleave to the Lord as He
requires. By faith, Abraham did follow the Lord and did receive the things
God had promised. Don’t let anything keep you from fully following the
Lord. It will be worth it all! Paul states in Philippians chapter 3, “…this one
thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth
unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of
the high calling of God in Christ Jesus”. Let us go on with Jesus.
In Christ, Randy Currier

(2 Tim. 3:1)

As the redeemed of the Lord Jesus, we are living in perilous times. Times that the Lord has foretold us of in His word.

Perilous is defined as: fierce, difficult, grievous, reducing the strength.

Satan is after your faith. He is after your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. The devil wants to silence the truth, silence the word of God,

silence the people of God.

In light of very recent events, it may appear that the enemy is winning. He is not.

The enemy want to frighten God’s people into silence. The temptation for the children of God in regard to our witness

and testimony for Christ is to “just tone it down a little, just keep your Christianity to yourself, don’t be so outspoken about truth and the bible, be smart and play it safe and protect yourself, just be quiet about your faith and you will be okay.”

Do NOT give in to such thoughts. Live boldly for Jesus Christ in this hour

and in the midst of perilous times.

Our Lord told His disciples in John chapter ten that He was sending them forth in as “sheep in the midst of wolves”

but He also told them in the book of Matthew, “Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed;

and hid, that shall not be known.

What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”

The Lord promises to be with us in the face of persecution. He will not fail us or forsake us or abandon us. He has not given us the spirit of fear,

but of power, love and a sound mind. Christ is victorious over all of the plans and threats of the adversary, and we are victorious in Christ.

“For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 Jn. 5:4)

Even in death we are victorious. Don’t be afraid. Live for God.

Christians are in a fight! As believers, as long as we are in this world, we
will be called upon to fight. We fight by the power of the Lord, and we fight
with the assurance of victory-our Lord’s victory. “Now thanks be unto
God, which always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and maketh
manifest the savour of his knowledge by us in every place.” 2 Cor.
2:14. Followers of the Lord are “in the world, but not of the world. God
places His people right in the thick of spiritual battles and right in the face of
our adversary, yet He is with us and gives us the strength to fight and to
prevail in His Name.
Later in his life, King David stated, “God is my strength and power: and
he maketh my way perfect. He maketh my feet like hinds feet: and
setteth me upon my high places. He teacheth my hands to war; so
that a bow of steel is broken by mine arms. For thou hast girded me
with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou
subdued under me.” 2 Sam. 22:33-35, 40. I believe the scriptures teach
that God is continually strengthening and preparing His saints for the
battles still to come. Day by day He is preparing His people for the battles
they will be called upon to face tomorrow. “ And David said unto Saul,
Thy servant kept his father sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear,
and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote
him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me,
I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.Thy servant
slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine
shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living
God. David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw
of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the
hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be
with thee.” 1 Sam. 17:34-37. As a young shepherd boy, David had seen
the power and faithfulness of God to fight through him and deliver him.
Such experience gave him confidence to go out and fight the Philistine
giant, Goliath, and to prevail! “ Then said David to the Philistine, Thou
comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I
come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies
of Israel, whom thou hast defied. This day will the LORD deliver thee
into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee;
and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto
the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the

earth may know that there is a God in Israel. And all this assembly
shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the
battle is the LORDS, and he will give you into our hands.” 1 Sam.
17:45-47.
As Christians, we should take advantage of every “ordinary” day knowing
that our Savior is graciously and mightily preparing us for the battles that
are ahead of us. He is faithful. He will not fail us or abandon us in our
moment of need. It’s not our strength but His. “ I sought the LORD, and he
heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. They looked unto him,
and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. This poor man
cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his
troubles. The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear
him, and delivereth them.” Ps. 34;4-7
In Christ, Randy Currier

LUKE 18:1 “And He spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;”

In your Christian walk, have you ever been tempted to faint? Noah Webster, in his 1828 dictionary, describes the term “faint” as “weak, languid, inclined to swoon, as to be rendered faint by excessive evacuations, feeble, exhausted. He further defines faint as, imperfect, cowardly, rejected, depressed, dispirited”. If I didn’t know better, I’d say, Mr. Webster has been reading my mail or looking over my shoulder at times!

What did the Psalmist Asaph say in PSALM 73:2?

“But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped!” He went so far as to say in verse 13
“Verily (Truly) I have cleansed my heart in vain, and washed my hands in innocency.”

Don’t you love the transparency of the Word of God? If you, like the Psalmist, have found yourself in this
state before, what brought the faintness about? Was it due to circumstances? A state of mind?

Possibly…

● Fear, anxiety, the thought of facing tomorrow?

● A secret sin, a stronghold, or compromise that had you bound and seemingly there was no way out?

● Heartbreak, disappointment, poor health?

● Possibly something the Lord has/is calling you to that was far beyond your ability to
accomplish? You just know it will be a “flop” and because of this you are hesitant to step forward in faith?

● A relationship that is keeping you from fully pursuing Christ with your heart and life?

● God may have called you to confront someone close to you in love and be a “Nathan” to them,
but you’re afraid you will “lose” them? Yet God has said “go!”

● I know that the Lord has filled “Susie, Beth” with His Holy Spirit, but I am not worthy and have given up on
seeking Him for that. “Surely He couldn’t/wouldn’t fill me?”

● Something God is calling you out of that at one time you felt perfectly comfortable doing or engaging in, yet you know He has spoken?

● Perhaps the Lord is calling you to be an intercessor, but you know what that will cost? My time, my leisure and my routine?

● Is He calling you to teach His word, disciple someone younger in the faith, minister, open your home, give of your resources, time, money, giftings that He’s entrusted to You?

● Is the Lord prompting you to open your home to show others what a Christian family looks like?

● That person, that family, that the Lord has burdened your heart with - you’ve wanted to reach out, but you feel so unequipped, tired and unable to “take on something else” yet you know they are struggling, and the Lord has revealed that to you…to me?

● Do I find myself so often being introspective? Am I consumed with “my own world” and more often than I’d like to admit, I am not able to see beyond myself and the needs of my family?

● Is there unforgiveness in my heart, hindering my prayers and practically paralyzing me from going on? MARK 11:22-25

You may find yourself in a place of deep Abiding now where you are experiencing the peace, faith and love the Lord imparts. Praise God! The Lord is calling us To ABIDE IN HIM! In the verse we began with in LUKE 18:1, the NKJV reads: “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart,” When we are in a state of Abiding in Christ, we Cannot Lose Hope! Because He Alone is Our Hope! As Randy has been sharing over the past few weeks: We must not see Abiding as a Task!

Rather, we find ourselves Occupied with Christ! As we Abide and Rest in Him, we will see Unbelief Vanish! He imparts Hope and unmeasured Faith as we Abide in Him! We can Prevail in Prayer as we Abide in Him. We can: Rise Up, Move Forward, Step Out! We can follow the Call of God in and on our lives as we Abide in Him, not losing Hope Because “He Abideth Faithful!” 2 TIMOTHY 2:13

A Fresh New Start

As we enter the new year many will endeavor to make new resolutions. We often see the new year as an opportunity for a fresh start, another chance to keep promises to ourselves and to others. Perhaps (probably) we have resolved many times before to be better or to do better in some particular area of our lives and failed to

follow through on our commitment.

I am so grateful that our God gives us fresh new starts. He gives us another opportunity to: grow in Christ, grow in our prayer life, share the gospel with others, to lead our families in the truth, etc. If we sin against the Lord, He is always quick to forgive us when we confess and turn to Him. He gives us a second chance, and a third chance, and a 10,000th chance. Not only does He forgive us and cleanse us, but He restores us to Himself and continues to work mightily in us to make us like His Son. God goes far beyond pardoning our sins, He restores us and sets us back on a straight path…a path to do and be what is right in His sight. Even if we have failed the Lord greatly and often, even if we promised before to never commit that sin again, the Lord is ready to forgive us and move us forward in His holy plan. Peter failed the Lord miserably by denying Jesus three times the night He was arrested. Peter thought that his fellowship with the Lord and usefulness to God were over. He decided to go back to fishing, the life he had before coming to Christ. Jesus, though, was not finished with Peter and purposed to restore this broken man back to Himself. “Simon, do you love Me?” “Then feed My sheep.”

What a Savior and Friend we have in Jesus!

Don’t give up on the Lord! Don’t give up on His promises! Don’t give up simply because you have tried and failed before. Our God is able to help us. He is able to finish the work He has begun in us. Because of our failures, we may think that God cannot fulfill His glorious plan for our lives. He can! The Lord says in Joel 2:12-13, 25, “Therefore also now, saith the Lord, turn ye even to me with all your heart, and with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning: And rend your heart, and not your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil. And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you.” The Lord can restore all that we have lost and wasted and forfeited. He makes all things new!

God bless and have a great new year in the Lord!

King Solomon wrote in Ecclesiastes, “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. Therefore, I hated life; because the work that is wrought under the sun is grievous unto me: for all is vanity and vexation of spirit.”

God’s word, however, promises us that all that is done for Christ will last. All that is truly done for His glory will endure.

It’s impossible for us, but not for God! The Lord purposely puts things “out
of reach” for us. He intentionally calls His people to do things and believe
Him for things that we can’t do. He purposely calls men to do things that
are not possible for the natural man to accomplish. He wants us to trust
Him to do it… to “Be still and know that He is God.” If it is going to come to
pass, the Lord must do it. When it is accomplished, it will be Christ alone
who receives the glory: “That no flesh should glory in His presence.” “That
according as it wis written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord.” (1
Corinthians 1:29, 31)

It's impossible for a 100-year-old man and his 90-year-old barren wife to
produce a son from their own bodies. Peter DID WALK on water at the Lord’s
bidding!
The Lord calls His people to live “God-sized” lives and to do God-sized”
things. He is able to do “exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or
think according to the power that worketh in us.” We must believe Him to
do what He has promised to do. “Jesus said unto her, Said I not unto thee,
that, if thou wouldest believe, then shouldest see the glory of God?” It is
thrilling to walk with Almighty God!
